Happy Deathday A.P. Carter (December 15, 1891 – November 7, 1960)

1914 - Archie Campbell born in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. A Grand Ole Opry comedian beginning in 1958, he gains his best-known recording with the twisted verbiage of “Rindercella,” though he gains his widest recognition as a regular on “Hee Haw”
1953 - Radio station WXGI, of Richmond, Virginia, bans Webb Pierce’s “There Stands The Glass” from its airwaves, suggesting the song would negatively influence younger listeners
1960 - A.P. Carter dies in Kingsport, Tennessee. With his wife Sara and her cousin, Maybelle Carter, The Original Carter Family became one of the genre’s pioneering groups following a key 1927 recording session. They join the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1970
