You know, Country & Western!
This ain't your Dad's country music. It's your Granddad's! None of that new Nashville bullshit either. This is where you'll find what I consider the best in Country (Classic and Alt), Folk, and Americana.

Dale Watson - Where Do You Want It
Dale’s new album El Rancho Azul is out today. And Dalevis too, which is more of a Sun Sessions II (or Dalevis II since he released Dalevis as a ltd edition CD back in 2000).
I’m only a couple songs into El Rancho and can tell it’s his strongest album in a while. Straight forward honky tonkin’. No strings or background vocals which loused up Carryin’ On.
Buy El Rancho Azul.
Buy Dalevis.

Dale Watson - I Hate These Songs
An ode to all those country songs we all know a little too well. One of Dale’s great tunes.
Dale Watson - Loose Nut Behind the Wheel
Everyday knuckle punching gearjammer super trucking…

Dale even beat me home driving his boss rig from Bristol, TN to NYC.
Scenes from Bristol Rhythm and Roots Day 2. Also, I need to learn how to take pictures. Can you say amateur?
Nice to see I’m not the only one here. (I kid, the place was packed!)
Dale Watson.
Dale Watson has some big britches.
July 25th, 2012 ~ The sounds may seem old but the songs are not. This week on American Routes we visit with a few musicians who are known for crafting modern country music from old-time inspirations. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings share with us how they fit “an electric peg into an acoustic hole.” Then conversation with Austin’s king of the honky-tonks, Dale Watson, who literally wears his musical inspirations on his sleeve. Listen here…
I haven’t started listening yet, but it smacks of promise. With a lineup like that, how can’t it?
Story of my current life. Talk to me in five hours and I’ll change my tune.

Can you like this post a little quieter please?
