You know, Country & Western!

This ain't your Dad's country music. It's your Granddad's! None of that new Nashville bullshit either. This is where you'll find what I consider the best in Country (Classic and Alt), Folk, and Americana.

Waylon Jennings - Chevy Van

Sammy Johns, the writer of this fine song, died last Friday at the age of 66. I love Sammy’s version, but saw Ol’ Waylon recorded it and thought I’d post it. It’s pure 80s and pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for the outlaw image. Unless his pervy molester comment at the end counts.

I’m telling you, if you’ve never been, get your butt to Austin and make the 2 hour pilgrimage. Everything about it is inspirational - the drive, the scenery, the “town”, the beers while watchin a band out back or inside if around the stove if it’s too cold, the drive over to Salt Lick BBQ afterwards. ALL OF IT.

Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain’t nobody feelin’ no pain

So baby, let’s sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society you cry all day
We’ve been so busy keepin’ up with the Jones
Four car garage and we’re still building on
Maybe it’s time we got back to the basics of love

Shame to bury this at the end of the show. Is it just me or is Ralph Emory a tool?
